Penney De Pas, MA, has been painting watercolors since 2002 and acrylics since 2014. She has also
worked in charcoals, pastels, ink, and Chinese brush painting. Having wanted to be an artist since she
could hold a crayon in her stubby fingers, for 35 years, she thought she was “not good enough”
compared to the art she saw hanging in museums and galleries, giving up her dream until she did the
Landmark Forum in 1997 and had a work cutback in 2002 when she took her first watercolor class. A
year later, she had her first exhibit and sold seven paintings. She has continued to paint and exhibit ever
since, with two pieces juried into a national show in 2019. She is drawn to on florals, landscapes, and
portraits, subjects that juxtapose the ephemeral (like a flower) and the eternal (like a canyon or the
ocean). Her work is available for sale through her website, PenneyDePas.com.
